ThreeWalls
"ThreeWalls is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to contemporary art and art education. Our mission is to provide workspace and exhibition opportunities for emerging artists who are at pivotal points in their careers."
I worked with the marketing director to develop a visual system for this non-profit art organization including identity system, web site, and various promotional print pieces.
The Identity is simple, it lets the artists and the work take center stage. We intentionally tried to stay away from a sleek modern look inherit in most galleries. The identity takes on a more educational or institutional feeling.
A project for Kyla Mallett, a sound installation artist, became a unique packaging solution. Upon entering the gallery the visitor is faced with blank white walls, but as they move closer to the wall it becomes apparent there are faint conversations going on within the gallery walls. This handmade take-away contained a CD full of gossipy conversation pulled from the gallery show, as well as an artist essay.
David Noonan is a painter who was a resident artist at ThreeWalls in 2004. For this show we were able to produce a poster which contained a large featured image on one side and the artist esssay as well as more of his elaborate paintings on the flip side.
